It just hit me that I have been a complete failure at keeping my blog updated so I would like to update everyone on what has happened since my last post. The walls at Matthew's Place are up and the cintura (a belt of concrete around the top that's job is to make sure the roof is level) is poured and we are ready to start on the second floor. Outside of a village called Cherechiu we have started building a house for an old couple whose previous home burned down. In a matter of about two looonggg days we poured the foundation, built the walls, and poured the cintura.
As far as the rest of my ministry goes, Caleb and I have inherited Wednesday night church at Meirleau and the Friday bible study at government housing. I ask that you would pray for Caleb and I that God would use us to teach these kids his word. I am also going to be taking a couple of the guys with me to the gym in order to use that as a platform to teach God's word. We will be doing a bible study afterwards on what it means to be a man of God. If you would like to get involved and sponsor one of the guys, memberships are 65 lei a month, or about 20 bucks. They are excited about the chance to get in shape and even more thrilled about somebody taking the time to disciple them.
On a final note, I would ask that you would pray for one of my close friends. God has really laid him and his family's salvation on my heart and given me a deep compassion for them. His name is Buck, and I can't wait to see what God does with his life. I want to leave you with some scripture. Recently I did a word study on what it meant to be holy, because if we are to serve God wholeheartedly then we must be holy because he is holy. It comes from 1st Thessalonians chapter five verse 23. It says, "Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again." Verse 24 concludes by saying, "God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful. Remember 2nd Timothy 3:13, "If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is." It is encouraging to know that for every shortcoming I bring to the table, God brings more than enough mercy, grace, and patience to overcome that for HIS glory. Hope to update soon, don't be afraid to shoot me a reminder!
